COURSE DESCRIPTIONS
Parent-Tot: No skill requirements. Parent swims with their child to introduce them to the water
EARLY YOUTH LESSONS (AGES 3-6)
Pike: No skill requirements. Learn: floating, putting face into water, entering/exiting pool
Pike/Eel: No skill requirements. Learn: floating, putting face into water, entering/exiting pool and introduction to arm strokes
Eel: Must be able to float on front and back. Learn: introduction to arm stroke, deep water work, jumping into pool, underwater swimming
Ray: Must be able to float on front and back. Turn over from front to back. Can kick with kickboard on front and back the width of the pool. Learn: Jumping into deep water & swimming to side of pool with assistance. Open eyes under water & under water retrieval.
Ray/Starfish: Must be able to float on front and back. Turn over from front to back. Can kick with kickboard on front and back the width of the pool. Learn: Jumping into deep water & swimming to side of pool with assistance. Open eyes under water & under water retrieval.
Starfish/Advanced Starfish: Requirements: Able to use kick board across width of pool on front and back, using rotary breathing on front. Swim front and back crawl ½ width of pool with assistance. Learn: 10 bobs of hanging onto the wall, jumping from diving board and swimming to side with assistance. Open eyes under water and underwater retrieval.
YOUTH LESSONS (AGES 6 AND OVER)
NEW CLASS! Nervous Nellie/Ned Pike: No skill requirements. For early swimmers (6+ yrs) who are very fearful of the water. Learn: floating, putting face in the water, entering/exiting pool
Polliwog: No skill requirements. Learn: floating, putting head under water, entering/exiting pool, kicking, arm stroke, and jumping
Guppy: Must be able to float and swim width of pool. Learn: rotary breathing, jumping, deep water work, and retrieving objects from deep water.
Minnow: Must be able to swim length of pool using front crawl and backstroke. Learn: treading water, survival floats, diving, elementary backstroke, and breaststroke
Minnow/Fish: Must be able to swim two lengths of pool, front crawl and backstroke. Learn: Tread water, survival floats, diving & elementary breast and back strokes.
Fish: Must be able to swim two lengths of pool using front crawl, back crawl and elementary backstroke. Learn: pool safety, breast and butterfly stroke, increase endurance, sculling, & diving on board.
